Astros' Playoff Run Factors Into Espada Decision

Houston Astros owner Jim Crane announced the team's playoff berth will factor into the decision on manager Joe Espada's future, whose contract expires after the season.

Crane stated there have been no recent discussions about a new deal for Espada, noting "All positives are positives" in reference to the Astros making the playoffs despite finishing 81-81. The team became the first in MLB history to reach the postseason without a winning record.

The Astros, who will host the Chicago White Sox in a best-of-three Wild Card Series beginning Tuesday, are in the playoffs for the ninth time in 10 years, reaching the ALCS seven straight times from 2017-23 and winning World Series titles in 2017 and 2022. wlop.pl
