Neuer Retires After World Cup Exit

Germany's 2014 World Cup winning goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has retired from international football following the team's penalty shootout defeat to Paraguay.

Manuel Neuer, who first appeared in the World Cup in 2010 before lifting the trophy four years later, made his 23rd and final World Cup appearance against Paraguay. Despite the bitter end to his international career, Neuer stated he doesn't regret his decision to come out of retirement after initially stepping down following Euro 2024. syntagm.co.za

Former Germany defender Robert Huth criticized the decision to include Neuer, calling it "really unexpected" and noting that he "came late to the table." Neuer's retirement marks the end of an era for German football after their limited success since their 2014 triumph.
