The NFL Combine is the best showcase for all NFL hopefuls. Players train for months in preparation for this event and hope they can do well enough to jump on the radar of a few teams prior to draft day. Read below to see if the 8 Mountain West representatives were able to raise their stocks following their combine showing.

Check out the full results here.

OL Kage Casey (Boise State)

Measurements: 6’5” 309 lbs, 32 3/4 (arm), 10 1/4 (hand)

40 time: 5.2

10-yard split: 1.85

Vertical: N/A

Broad: N/A

3-cone: 8.01

20 shuttle: N/A

Bench: N/A

Production Score: 69

Athleticism Score: 66

Total Score: 68

NFL Prospect Grade: 6.25

Synopsis: Casey had a good showing at the Combine, but didn’t stand out in any particular way. His arm measurements probably solidify his transition to guard moving forward, or else someone who can play in a swing role as a backup. His size and productivity still impress, but he graded out as more of an average athlete, so he likely didn’t make any big draft board jumps. Nevertheless, Casey is still a good bet to be a Day 2 pick.

Stock Report: EVEN

QB Cole Payton (North Dakota State)

Measurements: 6’3”, 232 lbs, 31 5/8 (arm), 10 1/4 (hand)

40 time: 4.56

10-yard split: 1,57

Vertical: 40”

Broad: 10’10”

3-cone: 7.12

20 shuttle: 4.36

Bench: N/A

Production Score: 66

Athleticism Score: 83

Total Score: 75

NFL Prospect Grade: 5.81

Synopsis: Payton had a solid showing this past week, putting up a great 40 time and an impressive vertical in his quarterback grouping. He’s a project, but one that teams may want to take the risk on, as he could end up being an intriguing practice squad player who will eventually turn into a backup quarterback with some plus skills. Payton could take advantage of a relatively weak QB class and find himself hearing his name called on Day 3.

Stock Report: UP

WR Bryce Lance (North Dakota State)

Measurements: 6’3”, 204 lbs, 31 1/8 (arm), 9 1/4 (hand)

40 time: 4.34

10-yard split: 1.49

Vertical: 41.5”

Broad: 11’1”

3-cone: 7

20 shuttle: 4.15

Bench: N/A

Production Score: 79

Athleticism Score: 99

Total Score: 86

NFL Prospect Grade: 6,00

Synopsis: Lance had a huge Combine showing, placing fifth in 40 time among wide receivers and tenth overall. He was top five or better in other testing categories as well, with the exception of the bench press, which he opted out of. Lance has the college production, testing results, and name recognition working in his favor and has definitely moved up the draft boards with his performance.

Stock Report: WAYUP

DB Chris Johnson (San Diego State)

Measurements: 6’0” 193 lbs, 30 5/8 (arm), 9 7/8 (hand)

40 time: 4.4

10-yard split: 1.54

Vertical: 38”

Broad: 10’6”

3-cone: N/A

20 shuttle: N/A

Bench: 17

Production Score: 70

Athleticism Score: 84

Total Score: 79

NFL Prospect Grade: 6.30

Synopsis: Johnson had a lot of buzz coming into the Combine and only reinforced it with his showing. Measuring on the right side of 6 feet helped, as did recording the third-fastest 40 time among cornerbacks. He impressed during interviews, too, though his character was not in question. Johnson checks off quite a few boxes with college production, solid technique, and now athleticism for scouts to report back to their respective teams.

Stock Report: UP

TE John Michael Gyllenborg (Wyoming)

Measurements: 6’6”, 249 lbs, 31” (arm), 10” (hand)

40 time: 4.6

10-yard split: 1.6

Vertical: 35.5”

Broad: 10’8”

3-cone: N/A

20 shuttle: 4.22

Bench: N/A

Production Score: 64

Athleticism Score: 84

Total Score: 73

NFL Prospect Grade: 5.86

Synopsis: Gyllenborg solidified the idea that he is an athletic tight end who is worth taking a chance on in the NFL Draft. He had good showings in the 40 and 10-yard split and was actually the top TE in the shuttle drill. JMG still has some work to do as a blocker and will need to keep answering questions about his injury history, but if a team can develop that, they may be getting a steal.
