USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings, March 3: Kavanagh enters top 10

The UFC's return to Mexico City with UFC Fight Night 268 produced outcomes that affected rankings in a few divisions.

In the main event, former two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno competed against Lone'er Kavanagh, who came into the fight as an unranked replacement opponent. Kavanagh made the most of his big opportunity by dominating the fight from start to finish to pick up the biggest win of his career to date. As a result, Kavanagh launches himself into the top 10, landing at No. 7, while bumping Moreno down two spots to No. 8.

In the co-feature, David Martinez took on former bantamweight title challenger Marlon Vera in a crossroads bout. Martinez, who entered the week at No. 14, put on a strong showing in the first two rounds, and survived a hard third-round charge from Vera, who entered the week at No. 12. With Martinez winning a decision, he takes over No. 12, while Vera falls to No. 13.
