Chargers Plan to Release Becton

The Los Angeles Chargers plan to release guard Mekhi Becton in the coming days, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

The Chargers signed Becton to a two-year deal last March, but the contract included no guaranteed money for the 2026 season. By cutting him, the team would clear $9.7 million in cap space while absorbing $2.5 million in dead money.

Becton appeared in 15 regular season games at right guard last season, including a start in the team's playoff loss to the Patriots. The 2020 Jets first-round pick overcame early career injuries to win a starting job with the Eagles in 2024 before joining the Chargers.
