Finebaum Pleads for Action at Trump College Sports Roundtable

Paul Finebaum urged meaningful action from President Trump's upcoming White House roundtable on college sports, warning the sport is becoming 'unmanageable' without swift changes to NIL and transfer portal policies.

The SEC Network host appeared on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning ahead of the March 6 meeting featuring influential figures including Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, commissioners, and athletics directors. "If something doesn't happen very quickly, and I mean in the next short period of time, then this thing could blow up," Finebaum warned.

While supporting the effort, Finebaum expressed skepticism about whether the gathering with "some of the most powerful people in Washington" would result in tangible outcomes or become "just another show." He emphasized the sport faces "one of the most critical moments in recent memory," with growing frustration among leadership that could lead conferences to "go rogue" if structural changes aren't implemented soon.
